SKIN TAGS

Skin tags are invariably benign - non cancerous - tumors of the skin which cause no symptoms, unless it is repeatedly rubbed or scratched, as may happen with clothing, jewelry, or when shaving. Very large skin tags may burst under pressure.
Skin tags are benign, asymptomatic skin tumors, often raised from the skin on fleshy peduncles.
Skin tags are composed of a core of fibers and ducts, nerve cells, fat cells, and a covering or epidermis.
Some people inherit an increased susceptibility to skin tags, and being obese or overweight also appears to increase the likelihood of developing this skin anomaly. Skin tags affect people of all genders equally, but are more likely to occur in people who are pregnant and/or who have diabetes.

HIVES

Hives  are itchy welts that can show up anywhere on your skin. They’re caused by an allergic or other type of reaction. They can last a few minutes or several days before they go away. Sometimes they’re a sign of more serious problems, especially when you have trouble breathing. Hives that recur or that last more than 6 weeks are considered chronic urticaria and require further evaluation.
If you have hives along with fever, nausea, stomach cramps, shortness of breath, and a drop in blood pressure after a bee sting, insect bite, or drug injection, that can be a sign of a life-threatening  allergy.Common triggers for hives include:
  • Foods like milk, fish, or nuts
  • Drugs like aspirin or penicillin
  • Food additives like flavorings and preservatives
  • Bug Bites
  • Extreme cold or heat
  • Pressure on the skin
  • Viral infections
  • Skin contact with allergens.

DANDRUFF

Dandruff is a condition marked by flakes of dry skin on the scalp. The flakes can often fall from your hair and land on your shoulders. Dandruff usually results from a dry scalp. If this is the cause, the flakes are typically small and you may have dry skin on other parts of your body.Washing your hair with a harsh shampoo or using a lot of chemicals on your hair can sometimes irritate your scalp and lead to flakes.A fairly common condition called seborrheic dermatitis is the cause of many dandruff cases. It’s characterized by patches of red and oily skin that leave yellowish flakes on the scalp. These flakes are often larger than dandruff flakes that occur from dry skin. Seborrheic dermatitis can also cause flaky, irritated patches elsewhere on your body, which may lead you to think you have psoriasis. For all skin, hair and nail ailments visit our clinics at Malad,Juhu and Bandra in Mumbai.Call 9004839333 for appointments.

WHAT IS DERMABRASION?

Dermabrasion and dermaplaning help to "refinish" the skin's top layers through a method of controlled surgical scraping. The treatments soften the sharp edges of surface irregularities, giving the skin a smoother appearance.
Dermabrasion is most often used to improve the look of facial skin left scarred by accidents or previous surgery, or to smooth out fine facial wrinkles. It's also sometimes used to remove the pre-cancerous growths called keratoses. Dermaplaning is also commonly used to treat deep acne scars.

Both dermabrasion and dermaplaning can be performed on small areas of skin or on the entire face. They can be used alone, or in conjunction with other procedures such as facelift, scar removal/revision or chemical peel. For more information  visit  our  clinics at  Malad,Juhu and Bandra  in  Mumbai  for  all skin, hair  and nail  ailments.Call  9004839333 for appointments.

WHAT IS AN ALLERGY?

An allergic reaction begins in the immune system. Our immune system protects us from invading organisms that can cause illness. If you have an allergy, your immune system mistakes an otherwise harmless substance as an invader. This substance is called an allergen. The immune system overreacts to the allergen by producing antibodies. These antibodies travel to cells that release chemicals, causing an allergic reaction.
A number of different allergens are responsible for allergic reactions. The most common include:
•    Pollen
•    Dust
•    Food
•    Insect stings
•    Animal dander
•    Mold
•    Medications
•    Latex

We have different allergy profiles to detect the type of allergy and its severity.Allergy is done by blood test.If you know your allergy you can easily avoid it.If you wantyour allergy profile to be done please contact us on 9004839333.Our clinics at Malad,Juhu and Bandra in Mumbai

VITAMINS AND SKIN

Your body produces millions of skin, nail and hair cells over the course of your lifetime. Every day, the body transforms raw materials from food into keratin, a tough protein that is the basic building block of hair, skin and nails.
Genetics may determine hair color, how hair and skin ages, and the texture of each. Environmental factors such as exposure to tobacco smoke and sun, medication and drug use, and nutritional deficiencies may all be reflected in the appearance of your hair, skin and nails.
Hair is actually an accessory structure of the skin, as are your fingernails and oil and sweat glands. Skin is living tissue that forms the largest organ in the body, while hair is non-living tissue that has the second fastest tissue growth rate in the body (the fastest is bone marrow). Since skin is living tissue, proper nutrition can affect it quickly, while hair may need to go through a growth cycle before you experience the full benefit of nutritional solutions. For  all  skin, hair and nail ailments  visit our Clinics at Malad,Juhu and Bandra in Mumbai.

NAIL INFECTION IN BABIES

·         What are nail infections?
Nails are at risk of fungal infections during the rainy season, especially if your baby sweats and continually scratches himself. Nails can become discoloured, brittle and rough. In severe cases, the nail can come away from the nail bed. You may also notice red, swollen and itchy skin around the nails.
·
H     How did your baby get a nail infection?
This fungal infection can result from overexposure to water, damage to the nail, or scratching sweaty or infected skin. Any moisture or debris trapped under the nails encourages the infection to grow. Ingrown nails may also be prone to infections.
·         What can you do about your baby's nail infection?
Its best to take your baby to a board certified dermatologist.

BABIES AND RINGWORM

  • ·         What is ringworm?
A contagious fungal infection of the skin, ringworm   appears as a circular or ring-shaped rash. It usually begins as a small, itchy, red or scaly patch, and can spread  to other parts of the body including the scalp. At times, several rings appear close together and merge.
    ·         How can  a baby get ringworm?
A baby probably can get ringworm from an infected person or pet, or touching contaminated  toys or clothes. He could have also got it from swimming in a pool or crawling on infected soil in a garden or park. Excessive sweating, caused by the humidity, increases the chances of picking up ringworm.
Make sure to cut your baby's nails to avoid infecting the rash. Also, try to keep your baby's skin clean and dry. Try not   to dress your baby in clothes with synthetic fabric or material that can irritate the infected skin.

COMMON HAIR PROBLEMS IN MONSOON

·         The most common complaint in rainy season is hair fall. Hairfall during monsoon increases by about 30 per cent. While on a regular day you may find 50-60 strands of hair on your brush, but during rainy season this count may go up to 100.
·         Humidity robs the hair of its bounce leaving them limp and lifeless.
·         Dandruff worsens in rainy season as the fungus responsible for causing it flourishes in humid weather.
·         Non-specific itchiness of the scalp and irritation are also common. These contribute to increased hair loss.
·         Lice infestation is also common in the rains, as lice breed during this season.
·         Bacterial and fungal infection of scalp is also common during monsoons. Exposure to polluted rainwater and warm humid conditions encourage growth of Bacteria/ fungus on scalp. As a result, some people develop painful pus-filled boils or severe itchy flaking patches develop over scalp.
